Local campaigning in action - Save Our NHS
While handing out leaflets for the Labour/Unite stall in Burnley town centre on Saturday, it was really positive to see how so many people in Burnley feel passionately about their NHS. It’s a shame our MP Gordon Birtwistle doesn't have this in common with the people he represents.
Gordon Birtwistle and many other Lib Dems were elected on the promise that he would save Burnley's A&E department. Rumblings from Burnley town hall are that Gordon Birtwistle will vote in favour of the proposed NHS health reform bill!
How could a councillor and now MP truthfully campaign to save Burnleys A&E, then when elected into power vote to severely cut the NHS, doing permanent damage to our country.
More examples of Burnley Lib Dems Breaking More Promises!
The Burnley Express reported this Friday that the bus services to the Royal Blackburn Hospital will be cut back to half the journeys that it currently makes. Another blow for the residents of Burnley who were voicing concerns on Saturday, how people who depend on the bus service will be able to attend appointments and visit relatives.
Liberal Democrat Baroness Williams claims that the coalition government is planning to sell 20 hospitals to private investors! The thought that British hospitals will be owned by foreign investors is very worrying!
Reports that American health insurance companies have been lobbying MP's to allow them to break into the NHS shows how this a real water shed moment for the NHS.
Once the private companies break into the NHS there will be no turning back!
It is our duty to campaign to stop these reforms before the NHS is sold off to the highest bidder piece by piece.
