I was privileged to present 93 year old, Mr O’ Hara with the Legion d’honneur medal, in recognition of the outstanding contribution that he made in 1944 in the efforts to liberate France. This medal was originally introduced by Napolean and remains the highest award that the Republic of France can give for outstanding military service. Harvey is a very lively and endearing gentleman and to look at this sprightly nonagenarian no one would ever guess that he was blown up by the Nazis and sustained very serous injuries in France four days after the famous D Day landings. On Sunday his extended family including his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gathered to celebrate with him. It was a very emotional event and I was proud to be part of it.
