Brussels diary – 14th November

North West Regional Labour Conference and a mission to talk about human rights in Saudi Arabia – it’s been a busy week!

Here’s what I’ve been working on for you this week:

I spoke at North West Regional Labour conference in Blackpool about Brexit and the disastrous scenario that No Deal would be.

I took part in official European Parliament missions to Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. In Riyadh I met with the UK Ambassador as well as the Saudi Foreign Minister and spoke about women’s empowerment, human rights and the ongoing crisis in Yemen. In Colombo I met with Sri Lankan MPs to discuss human rights and national reconciliation.

Back in Brussels, I hosted a conference on Women in Islam, and at an event about Oman met with the Gulf Cooperation Council Ambassador to talk about the security challenges in the region.

As part of my committee work I met with Roger and Ulrich from the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) to talk about files currently going through committee, as well as Brexit.

Plenty more going on in Strasbourg this week, check back here soon to find out more! WK.
